It’s a subjective selection, to be sure. You could argue about the choices well past call for last round. But there are a number of true gems. Many I had never seen and some I had forgotten about, such as “Catch Me If You Can.” Plus an example or two from Saul Bass, the one-time king of title sequences. Gratefully, “Se7en” is included—my personal fave as best title sequence ever (created by Kyle Cooper, one of the new kings). A shame they didn’t let that particular clip run longer. But where oh where is “Untouchables”?

    This is excellent. I haven’t delved into the featured titles but my fave that comes to mind is the opening titles of To Kill a Mockingbird. Remember? It’s a drawer filled with the things Boo Radley had left in the tree for the children. The eye follows a marble as it bumps into an old pocket watch and rolls around all the cryptic objects. Steve Frankfurt, 28-year old Y&R ECD wunderkind did it.
